New Terminology: Interactive whiteboard

What is this thing you talk about, an interactive whiteboard?

An interactive whiteboard is an instructional tool that allows computer images to be displayed onto a board using a digital projector. The instructor can then manipulate the elements on the board by using his finger as a mouse, directly on the screen. Items can be dragged, clicked and copied and the lecturer can hand-write notes, which can be transformed into text and saved.

This will create a new learning space for teacher and learner. This will make engaging with learners so much easier and effective communication will take place.

The more traditional teacher might be a little bit skeptical about using the interactive whiteboard that is why effective training should take place beforehand. The learners should also become familiarise with the use of the interactive whiteboard and be able to use it themselves, since this board can be use for learner friendly games and interactive learning, where they come up to the front and answer certain questions, or engage in certain activities on this whiteboard.

I haven’t use this board myself yet, but will be receiving training to engage with this new technology that can be applied to making teaching more interesting and effective for the perceivable learners engaging in the lesson.

As I said in previous blogs, we need to explore new teaching techniques and embrace them. Teaching is an ever changing career, which would always find new methods and how to do it successfully and how to better the communication between teacher and learner.

New techniques should be explored and how to engage learner and teacher and it shouldn’t just be used for giving a lesson.

Technology I improving day by day and we should embrace it and use it to the best of our ability!
